MTNL to provide 3G services on Dell laptops
Dell has tied up with MTNL to provide 3G services on its laptops. Under the alliance, MTNL will offer its 3G wireless services on selected range of Dell laptops and netbooks.
The selected models will come embedded with a 3G Ericsson module with GPS and an in-built MTNL SIM.
MTNL will offer a 3G pre-paid mobile broadband data package with national roaming facility on these Dell models. Users don’t have to connect any external USB modem to access internet.
Mr. R S P Sinha, Chairman and Managing Director of MTNL, said that the alliance with Dell will fast-track the development of India’s online population by providing easy access to Internet at affordable prices, and also open new business frontiers in content development and e-commerce.
Mr. Mahesh Bhalla, director and general manager of consumer sales, Dell India Pvt. Ltd said that the partnership with state owned PSU is in order to accomplish Dell’s objective to provide complete ‘Computing On The Go’ solution to its customers.
The bundled 3G service will be available on Dell’s Inspiron Mini 10 netbook, which will be available at an estimated cost of Rs 30,000.
These models will soon be available through Dell’s distribution stores in Mumbai and Delhi.
