Rabat, Morocco - The Moroccan authorities Tuesday incinerated more than 7 tons of cannabis in their campaign to uproot hashish production in the northern al-Hoceima province, customs officials said.

The haul was burned in al-Hoceima, 400 kilometres north of the capital Rabat. The cannabis, its seeds and resin had been seized in several police swoops.

Morocco is one of the world's top producers of hashish, which is made from cannabis. (dpa)
