Moriah Wind System program to be supported by QPI
Quality Performance Inc. has been awarded contracts by the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard to support solid-state wind measurement technologies aboard ships.
The company was selected to continue support of the Moriah Wind System program used by both the Navy and Coast Guard to provide advanced wind and navigation information for defense applications, says QPI Vice President Steve Fortner.
Fortner said in a statement, "Quality Performance is committed to its leadership role in developing advanced products that support critical defense applications such as the Moriah Wind System program."
Virginia's QPI is the Naval Air Systems Command's prime contractor for the Moriah Wind System, which includes multi-functional color displays that provide accurate wind speed and direction measurements.
Integrated on approximately 35 vessels, the Moriah Wind System will replace the Navy and Coast Guard's current wind bird system.
The report further noted that the contracts are worth as estimated $720,000. (With Inputs from Agencies)
