Mohammad Sami likely to replace injured Mohammad Asif

Lahore, Nov 2 : Fast bowler Mohammad Sami is likely to replace Mohammad Asif in the ODI and Test series against India, if the latter is ruled out for the entire tour.

Selectors are closely watching the performance of Sami in the ongoing Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, the Dawn reported.

On Thursday, Pakistan's cricket team landed in New Delhi without Asif for the forthcoming bilateral series in which the two would play five ODIs and three Test Matches.

Asif had suffered an injury in his right elbow during Multan ODI last month playing against South Africa and has been ruled out of the ODI series against India.

Pakistan, who last won a Test series in India in 1986, will be in action straightaway with a warm-up one-day match against the Delhi Ranji team on Friday.

The Pakistan team squad for the series include, Shoaib Malik (Captain) Younis Khan (Vice Captain), Abdur Rehman, Fawad Alam, Iftikhar Anjum, Imran Nazir, Kamran Akmal (Wicket Keeper), Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Salman Butt  Shahid Afridi,  Shoaib Akhtar  Sohail Tanvir , Umar Gul  Yasir Hameed.
