MOEF Refuses To Take Any Action in Lavasa Case Until It Meet the Pre-ConditionsOn Wednesday, the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF) has told the Bombay High Court that it will not take any action in the housing construction case related to Lavasa Corporation Ltd., until the corporation will met the pre-conditions advised by the Experts Appraisal Committee.

A division bench of Justices Ranjana Desai and R V More has revealed that the Ministry of Environment and Forests would be passing its final order soon and the court will hold its next hearing on July 12. Lavasa’s Lawyer, Senior Advocate, Shekhar Nafde, has said that the MOEF should specify a date by which it would pass its final order.

Of the 34 conditions set by the Experts Appraisal Committee, five are pre-conditions which have not been met by the Lavasa Corporation Ltd. while undertaking construction near Pune.

The pre-conditions also include ‘a credible action' by Maharashtra government against Lavasa for violations under Environment Protection Act. The Board of Directors of Lavasa will have to give an undertaking that development of the hill town shall be as per Hill Station Regulations and a clear demarcation of 'no development/ construction zone.
