M&M in race for Scooters India
While the government has recently confirmed that it is scouting for a joint venture partner for ailing Scooters India, M&M has also said that t is very much in the race to bag the ailing PSU.
It is to be mentioned here that the Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh recently said that the government is looking for a stake sale deal in Scooters India and there are many companies that have shown an interest in buying the same.
In fact, the minister also confirmed that M&M is one of the major names in the deal while there are other companies also that are looking to bag the loss-making company. Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automotive and Farm Equipment) Pawan Goenka said that he has discussed the matter with the minister already.
While the speculation is that Bajaj Auto is also one of the companies that will file an expression of Interest for the same, the Rajkot-based three-wheeler maker Atul Auto is also in the race for buying a majority stake in the three-wheeler maker.
The minister said that the company who will come with a good package will get an opportunity.
