M&M may launch electric two-wheelers soon
The home-grown utility vehicle maker, M&M that forayed into the two-wheelers industry via the acquisition of Kinetic Motors' assets last year, is all set to begin its plans for the electric two-wheelers in the Indian market.
Notably, the company has so far launched three products in the Indian market - Flyte, Duro and Rodeo that have been generating significant numbers as far as the plans of M&M in the two-wheelers industry are concerned.
In fact, sources confirm that the company has started working on its electric two-wheelers that may be launched some time in the near future. Anoop Mathur, President - Two-wheelers, M&M also said that he wants to make the company with a portfolio across segments and the company is working on its expansion plans.
However, the initial plan is to launch a motorcycle under the Mahindra brand by March 2011 that will take M&M to take it head on with companies like Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto. The launch of electric two-wheeler is supposed to be after the motorcycle and it is the plan that will reap rich dividends in the long-run.
