Microsoft to release three versions of latest windows edition

Microsoft to release three versions of latest windows edition Software giant, Microsoft has said that it will launch three different versions of its latest desktop operating system including Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT for different types of users as per their requirements.

Microsoft, which is based in Redmond, Washington, announced the naming scheme in an official blog post. Communications manager Brandon LeBlanc wrote on the blog that all the three versions will offer superior performance without compromise.

"Windows 8 is the official product name for the next x86/64 editions of Windows. For many consumers, Windows 8 will be the right choice," he said.

The Windows 8 Pro edition will come with all the features of Windows 8 and will also include encryption, virtualization, PC management and domain connectivity. The users will also have the option to opt for a media pack add-on to Windows 8 Pro, which would offer the Media Center functionality.

LeBlanc suggests that users looking to use the OS for business can choose the Windows 8 Pro edition.

The Windows RT version will only be available pre-installed on PCs and tablets that are powered by ARM processors. It will allow manufacturers to build devices with thin and lightweight form factors that offer impressive battery life, according to the post. The RT version will come with touch-optimized desktop versions of Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote but it will not offer the Windows Media Player.

LeBlanc said that the pricing details for the versions will be revealed in the coming months.
