Micromax launches new 'FunBook' tablet computerHandset maker, Micromax has announced the launch of its new 'FunBook' tablet computer in the Indian market priced at Rs 6,499..

The tablet, which will be produced at the company’s unit in Haridwar, will be primarily aimed at the education sector in the country. Micromax is planning a 360-degree marketing campaign o promote the tablet in the country.

Micromax CEO Deepak Mehrotra said, "We have a manufacturing capacity of one lakh units per month and we are already looking at increasing that number. That should give an idea to the kind of numbers we are looking at for the device."

The FunBook tablet will come in seven-inch form factor and runs the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich platform. It is powered by a 1.22 GHz processor and comes with 0.3 MP VGA front camera, 4 GB internal memory, and expandable upto 32GB.

Micromax has tied up with Pearson and Everonn in order to make educational content available on the tablet for the consumers in the country. Mehrotra added that the users will have to pay just Rs 799 for educational content of one class and gain access to a multitude of multimedia content on the tablet.

The tablet is available across the country with a price tag of Rs 6,499.
