Micra, a role for hatchbacks- says NissanNissan has answered the Indian roads at the recently held Geneva show, it's newly MICRA.

This hatchback is yet to feature its production in India. But, promises soon to see itself flowing on the roads of Indian subcontinent.

Micra is built on a V-platform with a curved shape and a accented waistline. It comes with a 5 speed manual transmission and is also available in the CVT segment. The hatchback boasts of an 80 HP 1.2 liters engine which also features an alternate 1.2 direct-injection three-cylinder engine to generate 98 HP. These engines takes care of the fuel efficiency and simultaneously provide an added safety whilst accidents.

However with the increased features comes an added bonus of price slash which adds the extra glitz to this Japanese based car. Priced tag at a wow range of 3.8 - 5 lakhs, which shall compete against Maruti Alto, Wagon R, Chevy Beat, Ford Figo, Hyundai Santro and other similar models in India.

Nissan Australia's CEO, Dan Thompson says, "It is the key driver for us as part of our five-year growth plan, which ends in 2012. The first part of the plan was brand building". He further adds, "Now, with the launch of Micra, we move into the growth part of the plan. It offers us a lot of flexibility. But at this stage the number one priority is the hatch, which is 90 per cent of the segment".
