Micra to be the answer to the competition by Nissan

Micra to be the answer to the competition by NissanIt may have taken many years for the world's largest automaker Renault-Nissan to enter the Indian geographies but now it is hands-on to the Indian market. In fact, after recently inaugurating its plant at Chennai, the company is expecting the Micra to be the answer to the competition in the Indian market.

The new plant of the company is spread across 650 acres of land and can produce up to 4 lakh units per annum.

The company plans to reach full capacity by 2012. With an investment of Rs4,500 crore, about half or Rs2,300 crore of which has already been committed, the new plant by Nissan surely testifies the bullish plans of the automaker for the Indian market. The company also plans to launch a sedan version of the Micra in the coming months.

While the company also plans to manufacture more small cars at its Chennai plant, it has no plans to end its partnership with M&M for Logan.

Notably, Logan has been facing dwindling sales as it banked just 4,981 units in April- February 2009-10, down 60.03% as compared to a year ago period.
