Michelle Obama delivers speech at King College Preparatory High School

First lady Michelle Obama has delivered several speeches on different occasions and has also motivated American kids and parents to adopt healthy eating and physical activities. On Tuesday night, Obama addressed the Class of 2015 of Martin Luther King College Preparatory High School in South Side.

The first lady has told about her life and had addressed young people in addition to particularly those living in inner cities, saying “I am no different from you”. She again reminded graduates that she was also born and raised on the South Side.

She said at the commencement ceremony that was held at Chicago State University, "I am who I am today because of this community. I know the struggles many of you face: how you walk the long way home to avoid the gangs; how you fight to concentrate on your homework when there’s too much noise at home”.

She added that it’s not easy for a family to deal with hard times to make ends meet, however there are also many strengths associated with this community. She said that many of these families are living together with a bond of love, which only gets stronger.

Her speech to the students of King College Prep is especially of importance since this is a community that has seen many problems.

In the last two years, Obama has tried to build a relationship with some students at King College Prep and other Chicago schools and according to local media, the relationships are personal, however are still distant. Obama’s office also sent pictures of the students with Obama and occasionally e-mailed some.
