MCI will regain its reliability for regulating medical education

Ghulam Nabi AzadGhulam Nabi Azad, health minister on Tuesday said that after Ketan Desai's arrest by CBI, MCI creditability is under suspicion and government must take appropriate steps to regain its integrity and reliability for regulating medical education in the country. Government has to ensure that this body will be working in a fair and transparent manner.

Azad replied to the calling motion in Rajya Sabha on MCI, that there should be a body like national council for human resources in health which should be responsible for everything.

He also said that their prime objective is to re-establish trustworthiness of MCI and facilitate the council to work in a fair and objective manner. They must regain the confidence of all the people involved in medical education in the country.

He said that he has discussed Desai proceedings with the law ministry who was arrested by CBI on account of taking 2 crore bribe from a medical college.
