Mazda to recall 217,500 Tribute vehicles

Mazda to recall 217,500 Tribute vehiclesMazda has announced a recall of a total of 217,500 Tribute units a day after a recall announced by Ford Motor Company of about million Escapes.

The problem with stuck throttles that affects Escape models also impacts some of the Tribute vehicles with the customers. Mazda said that it will recall 217,500 2001-2008 Tributes with V6 engines and speed control. It is believed that the cable can stick under the engine cover when the gas is fully depressed and this might cause unintended acceleration.

The company said that the recall is because of “potential interference between the engine cover and the speed control cable” in the vehicles. The company has not reported any accidents because of the problem but has announced the recall to fix the problem in the affected models.

The two companies have said that they will address the issue by raising the engine covers in the SUVs in order to give enough space to cable so that it does not get stuck. Mazda said that the owners will be notified by mail and they should take their vehicles to the dealers immediately for fixing the problem.
