Master mariner to head Sydney Ports Corporation
Bryan Smith, the master mariner, has been chosen as the new Chairman of Sydney Ports Corporation. It was told by Paul McLeay, the minister for ports and waterways, on Wednesday.
Talking about the new appointment, the minister said that these are very exciting times for the company because of various issues coming into play. One and the most important part is the recovery that the economy is seeing. This means more trade and that also means that future holds some really good prospects for the business.
In such a situation, a strong leader at the top is the need of the hour and Smith can provide just that.
McLeay also revealed that two other appointments have been done. It includes two new members for the board, John Brogden and Talal Yassine.
Besides, the current year is also very important because the company has won a very big contract year to become the third operator at Port Botany.
In the coming months, the corporation is also planning to continue with its implementation of Port Botany Landslide Improvement Strategy alongside the development of an intermodal logistics centre at Enfield. It is also looking forward to relocate the cruise activity from Barangaroo.
