Maruti Suzuki revised auto prices

Maruti Suzuki revised auto pricesIndia's largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has decided to hike prices of its various models following foreign currency fluctuations and rise in input prices. The prices have been revised in the range of Rs 5,000-10,000 and would be effective from January 28 onwards. However, prices of economy-end vehicles like M800, Omni, Alto, WagonR, Zen Estilo, Gypsy, and Versa besides the SUV Grand Vitara were not increased.

The company said in a statement, "The price increase has been necessitated due to the increase in input costs like steel and foreign currency changes. There has been a regular fluctuation in currency, which has forced us to go for this increase."

Other leading auto maker, Hyundai Motors is all set to increase prices of its various models on similar grounds. It would announce 2% markups on its entire range causing increase in Santro prices by Rs 5000 and Sonata by Rs 25000.

Honda Siel Cars India and Ford Motor India are also likely to raise prices of various models in days to come. General Motors India and Toyota Kirloskar Motor had already hiked prices of their models earlier this month to ease some pressure due to high input prices.
