Maruti Suzuki records 3.1% fall in sales in April

Maruti Suzuki records 3.1% fall in sales in AprilIndia's leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India has said that it has recorded a fall of 3.1 per cent in sales during the month of April compared to the same month of the previous year.

The company was able to sell 97,302 units during April, 2013 compared to a total of 1,00,415 units sold during April of 2012. Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement that its total domestic sales rose slightly to 90,523 units during the month compared to 90,255 units sold in April, 2012.

The company's exports fell 33.28 per cent to 6,779 units during the month compared to 10,160 units sold during the same month of the previous year. The sales of the company's mini segment models, including the M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR rose 13.69 percent to 34,927 units from 30,720 units in the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki's compact segment models including Estilo, Swift and Ritz recorded a fall of 17.40 per cent in sales to 21,535 units in April, 2013 as against 26,072 units in the same month of the previous year. DZiRE model recorded
25.38 per cent higher sales at 19,446 units from 15,510 units during the month. The company also said that SX4's sales fell 5.21 per cent to 601 units from 634 units no units of Kizashi were sold in April, 2013 compared to three units sold in April of 2012.
