Maruti to recall one lakh A-Stars

Maruti to recall one lakh A-StarsIndian auto major Maruti Suzuki is going to call back no less than one lakh cars of its A-Star brand. The company has taken the step so that it can replace the fuel pump gaskets in the car, after reports of technical trouble in the fuel tanks appeared.

In a statement given to a private media house, Maruti's spokesperson said that the recall will be done within a certain timeframe. After technical hitches appeared during November last year, Maruti has planned to replace the whole pump gaskets and the O-rings. The statement further added that, the company started contacting the customers within a month of the findings.

A whole lot of A-Stars, made during August, 2009, are having the leakage problems. The customers are now being contacted through phone calls, emails and SMSs by their respective dealers.

This, the company claims, is a proactive step taken for the security of its customers, who are not going to face any extra cost because of the replacement.

The checking process, however, is not fully complete as of yet and it would be sometime before the whole process is over.
