Maruti to export Kizashi as CBUOn the one end, the competition has decided to take on Maruti's bread-and-butter, the hatchback segment while on the other Maruti Suzuki is perhaps is moving up the segment and will be exporting Kizashi as a CBU model from Japan that the company unveiled in the 10th auto expo in January in the Capital.

In fact, Kizashi is expected to be the flagship model of the auto major in the D-segment and will be making its debut in the last quarter of the current calendar year. With counterparts like Volkswagen, Honda, Toyota, Ford, and GM planning to up their ante in the hatchback segment, Maruti Suzuki is trying to capture the segment of the Passat, Camry and Accord.

The product is expected to be priced in the Rs. 12-14 lakh bracket making it the most expensive sedan being sold by Maruti Suzuki in the Indian market.

Sources confirm that the current plan is to import is as a CBU model and the company will later consider the option of importing the CKD kits, depending on the market demand.

Notably, Maruti Suzuki sold more than one million units in the last fiscal and it is also expecting a healthy growth in the current fiscal.
