Marion ‘Suge’ Knight Faces Criminal Charges In Las Vegas
According to a criminal complaint filed on Tuesday in Las Vegas' Justice Court, hip hop moghul - Marion 'Suge' Knight, who was allegedly found beating his girlfriend off a busy thoroughfare, has been charged with two counts of felony drug possession and one count of misdemeanor battery.
According to the complaint filed by Clark County district attorney's office, Knight was arrested by police after they found him striking a woman identified as Melissa Isaac and brandishing a knife in a parking lot, close to the Las Vegas Strip. According to TMZ, Knight reportedly punched his girlfriend of three years, in the back of the head, while driving around the city. Grabbing the wheel, she forced it to the curb and ran from the car, with Knight giving chase, when police arrived and saw the former UNLV defensive end kick Isaac in the head.
Found naked at the side of the road during the incident, there was no stabbing, even though Isaac needed to be treated for unspecified injuries at the local hospital. Later, released on the posting of a $19,000 bail, drugs like Ecstasy and hydrocodone were found on Knight, during his arrest.
Richard Schonfeld, Knight's Defence Attorney says Knight plans to enter a not guilty plea at his 16th December arraignment. If convicted, Knight faces mandatory probation, including up to four years in a Nevada state prison on each of the drug charges, as well as, six months in jail for battery.
Owner of Death Row Records known to release gangster rap albums by Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, in 2006, a bankruptcy trustee takeover of Death Row Records was ordered by a federal judge for gross mismanagement. Deciding to file for bankruptcy, Knight prevented the handing the control of his record label and assets to someone appointed by the court. Instead, the record company was purchased by New York based Global Music Group Inc. for $24-million at an auction in June.
