Manufacturing expansion slows down in the month of April
As per the recent survey the country's manufacturing expansion has been slow down in the month of April this year. After the global economic downturn and recession, the industry has not recovered to that extent as compared to the other sectors. It has been badly hit by the global economic meltdown last year.
But it does not seem to be recovering with the recovery in economy and market behavior. The same case was in the month of March as well. And for April it is even worse. There is a drastic fall in new orders and output of the Indian manufacturing companies.
The HSBC Markit Purchasing Managers' Index has gone down to 57.2 point in the month of April from 57.8 points in the month of April. The survey was based on 500 companies who are associated with this sector. In the month of February, this index has touched a 20-month-high.
However, so far as the underlying trends are concerned they are still at a high and also continuing strong.
