Man facing fraud case in Germany arrested in Philippines
Manila- A German man wanted for internet fraud in his home country was arrested in the Philippines, a senior immigration official said Monday.
Peter Uwe Muller was arrested Friday in the northern city of Angeles, 75 kilometres south of Manila, Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan.
Libanan said Muller is facing a string of fraud cases in Dresden, Germany, after being accused of cheating European investors through internet trading.
The German embassy in Manila sought the help of the Philippine government in arresting Muller, who is married to a Filipino woman, Libanan said.
The German government cancelled the passport of the suspect on September 12, making him an undocumented alien in the country, Libanan said.
Libanan said Muller, who arrived in the Philippines in January with his wife, would be deported immediately back to Germany. (dpa)
