Majority of US women don’t regret abortion
According to a new study, 99% of women think that abortion is a good choice. As per reports, many women said that they felt that going for abortion was fine for them and they didn't experience regret.
The study was conducted by researchers at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicineon over 600 women who went through the procedure at different medical facilities throughout the US over a duration of three year.
As per the study, the women, aged 25 on average, belonging to different social and racial backgrounds, were asked to reply to a number of questions together with what made them terminate the pregnancy, what they felt after doing that and what they think about their decision.
According to over half of the women, the decision to go for the abortion was tough or very tough.
According to the authors, "Women overwhelmingly felt abortion was the right decision in both the short-term and over three years, and the intensity of emotions and frequency of thinking about the abortion declined over time".
In the US, abortion rights are discussed a lot and it has become a topic that has been politicized. As per reports, over the past few years, conservative lawmakers in many states have come in support of anti-abortion laws.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, eleven states in the US have need of face-to-face counseling prior to abortion procedures and this indicates that a woman must visit the abortion clinic at least twice.
