Mahindra Forays Into Two-Wheeler Segment With ‘Flyte’
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, India's top utility vehicle and tractor manufacturer, has rolled out its first two-wheeler offering 'Flyte' across all Indian markets.
The newly launched Flyte, a 125cc automatic scooter, comes packed with amazing features, which include front fuelling, the largest storing space in its class and 4-in-1 anti-theft key and telescopic suspension that guarantee a smooth journey.
This is part of company's strategy to make entry into the two-wheeler segment following the acquirement of Kinetic Motor Co's assets during July last year (2008).
Kinetic along with Mahindra formed a new joint venture named 'Mahindra Two-Wheelers Pvt Ltd' in which Kinetic Motor owns a 20% equity stake, while the remaining stake is held by Mahindra.
Mr. Anoop Mathur, Mahindra's two-wheeler business president, stated, "The introduction of the Flyte marks the beginning of our two-wheeler foray."
Mr. Mathur added that at first, Flyte will be available at M&M's 238 dealerships in tier II and III cities.
"We use the design and engineering services of all our affiliates, including the Italy-based Engines Engineering, in all our product development work to give technologically superior products to our consumers," he also said.
Presently, Mahindra is the largest tractor and sport-utility vehicle manufacturer in India by sales. It also manufactures a broad variety of vehicles including multi-utility vehicles, light commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles and three wheelers.
Moreover, the company provides more than 20 models, including new generation utility vehicles like the Scorpio and the Bolero.
