Lung problem – a usual disease with traffic cops
While the auto majors in the country have enjoyed record sales for the month of October 2010 and have been able to continue with the boom trend in the automotive sector, but the fact of the matter is that the rise in the traffic volumes has become an issue for the traffic cops.
Needless to mention, that the problem of high sales result in huge traffic on the roads but a recently done survey that was jointly conducted by Universal Health Foundation and health portal arogya. com said that close to 34% of the traffic personnel suffer from lung disease.
It is to be mentioned here that the spirometry tests were conducted at all seven traffic zones in the city where pollution is at its peak. Moreover, the details of the survey also said that it was conducted in places like Chatushringi, Faraskhana, Swargate, Wanawadi, Bund Garden, Pimpri and Deccan Gymkhana areas of the city.
Dr Vijay Varad, President, Universal Health Foundation said that it is indeed shocking to find out that lungs of close to 72 cops out of the total surveyed count of 377 traffic cops were found weak. He also said that the cops were in a age group of 22-54 years.
