Louisiana woman sentenced to 15 months' hard labor for selling minors

I'd work with Pankaj Kapoor again and again: Bhavna TalwarAfter pleading guilty to selling two children in exchange for $175 and a cockatoo, a Louisiana woman was sentenced to 15 months' hard labor on Monday.

The Baton Rouge (La.) Advocate reported that 52 years old Donna Louise Greenwell, pleaded guilty to two counts of sale of a minor and will serve two concurrent sentences of 15 months' hard labor beginning March 25.

Greenwell was accused of a selling a 4-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy to Paul James Romero and Brandy Lynn Romero, who pleaded guilty in October and received suspended sentences in exchange for their testimony against Greenwell.

The Evangeline Parish District Attorney's Office said that the children were in Greenwell's custody after their parents left them with her, but Greenwell did not tell the parents she left the children with the Romeros.

The Romeros, testified that they believed Greenwell would use the $175 to transfer legal custody of the children. (With Input from Agencies)
