Leading actors to attend fast on condition – ‘no controversial speeches’
The hunger strike by the South Indian Film Artist Association, on November 1, inside the Nadigar Sangam campus, will be held to show the solidarity of the Tamil industry artists towards the suffering Tamilians in Srilanka. A grand dais has been erected at the Nadigar Sangam for the fast which would be staged between 8 am and 4 pm.
According to latest reports, all the leading stars will attend the event. Superstar Rajinikanth has also ensured his presence in the fast on the condition that the attendees should avoid any kind of controversial speeches on Srilankan issue.
Another leading star of the Industry, Kamal Hassan, also strongly supported Rajinikanth’s stand in this issue. Other famous stars - Ajith, Vijay and Surya - also requested the organizers not to force them speak on the dias. Coincidentally, the Tamil Nadu Government too has requested the Nadigar Sangam to hold a silent protest.
A few months back, the speeches delivered by actor Sathyaraj in the Hogenakkal fast, had affected his big movie Kuselan.
Also emotional speeches marked the rally at Rameswaram organized by the film fraternity on October 19, and eventually lead to the arrest of directors Seeman and Ameer, who were later released on bail.
According to the Nadigar Sangam President Sarath Kumar, the hunger strike will go on as per the plans, and the Union Government has given the assurance that it would look in to matter seriously.
