Leaders of Jordan, Saudi Arabia express concern over Lebanon
Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II on Friday discussed on the telephone developments in Lebanon with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, and the two pro-West Arab leaders said they were concerned over the deteriorating situation there.
"The two leaders expressed concerns over the regrettable events and their impact on the future of Lebanon and its people," a Jordanian royal court statement said.
"They underscored the importance of letting the language of reason and logic to prevail out of keenness on preserving Lebanon's higher interest, unity and sovereignty," it added.
The telephone conversation between the two leaders followed a proposal by Saudi Arabia to convene an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers. (dpa)
