Lamborghini reports lower sales in 2009Lamborghini Holding SpA released its full year results today. Lamborghini saw a sharp decline in the sales of its super cars in 2009. The decline in sales of its cars drove the company to a net loss in the year 2009. The company reported a decrease of around 38% in the total number of sold cars in 2009.

In 2009, the pretax loss of Lamborghini was reported of $48 million, while the company posted a pretax profit of $79 million in FY 2008. Total sales in the year 2009 were reported of $384 million, while it was reported of $654 million in the previous corresponding year.

The company sold a total of 1515 cars in 2009, while the figure was 2430 for the total numbers of sold cars in 2008.

Lamborghini said that the decline in demand was mainly due to the global economic slowdown especially in Europe and the United States.

However, the company is optimistic for the future demand and plans to launch at least one product per year.
