Kindle alert-Pi making’s its way

amazonThe answer to the American online Amazon's e-reader Kindle is- Infibeam's Pi. A product developed by Vishal Mehta is an e-reader featuring an E-Ink display. It is powered by an S3C2440 processor and comes with 512MB RAM that can be expanded up to 4GB using Micro SD cards.

It features a progress bar that displays the current position in the book. And supports formats such as pdf, epub, html, txt, mobi, doc, jpg, bmp, png, and MP3 (as users could listen to music while they read e-books of their choice). It can store up to 500 e-books on the device.

Other features include Mini USB slot, 3mm jack, button for 4-way navigation and selection, and buttons for back, home, plus or minus for changing the font size of the text.

The Infibeam Pi comes with a rechargeable built-in Li-Polymer battery (1000 mAh) that has a charging time of 4 hours and offers 7 days of battery life. Although a bit dearly priced, it's still an achievement to boost the morale of the Indian Technology and answer to the world that we're no less. This product's launch is not perfect. Be it timing (Apple's iPad or Kindle) or the vital puff. Pi lacks both of them. It will be exciting to watch if Infibeam's Pi could stand alone with its performance or not.
