Keep yourself busy to stay happy
A recent study has stated that people who constantly have something or the other to do are happier than those who sit idle.
Christopher K. Hsee and Adelle X. Yang, of the University of Chicago and Liangyan Wang, of Shanghai Jiaotong University who were the author of the study stated that one can make a living, earn money or even to help others when asked for help.
The study stated that volunteers who completed the study at the nearest location waited by walking back and forth by walking which kept them busy for almost 15 minutes. Respondents who opted for the farthest site were found to be merrier than those who opted to be idle.
Both the groups received candies for the same but it was stated that had it been the candies were given out for a far away location they would have been more happy than those who chose to be idle.
Hesse said, "If we can devise a mechanism for idle people to engage in activity that is at least not harmful, I think it is better than destructive busyness."
