Kamal Hassan To Remake ‘A Wednesday’ In Tamil & Telugu

Kamal Hassan To Remake ‘A Wednesday’ In Tamil & TeluguThe smashing success of Neeraj Pandey’s ‘A Wednesday’ -- starring Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in leading roles -- has motivated veteran South Indian actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan to remake it in two languages.

Kamal has confirmed that he would soon come up with the remake of the last year’s Hindi blockbuster in Tamil and Telugu.

Kamal would be playing the role that Naseeruddin Shah portrayed in the original.

In the bilingual film, Anupam Kher's character would be enacted by Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

In the past, both Kamal and Mohanlal had expressed their desire to work together.

Kamal himself has taken the charge for producing the film in both versions. Chakri, a US-based filmmaker and a good buddy close to Kamal, would be directing the film.

The film ‘A Wednesday’ depicts an about-to-retire police commissioner narrating a sequence of events that unfolded on a particular Wednesday, and which do not exist in any written record, but only in his mind and in those of several individuals who were involved in it, both willingly and unwillingly, and how those events affected the lives of all the concerned people.

Kamal believes that there is nothing wrong in remaking a good idea.

While speaking at the FICCI Frames convention, Kamal said, “I had remade Govind Nihalani's 'Drohakaal' in Tamil a few years ago.”

Commenting over ‘A Wednesday’ remake, Kamal said, “My friend said it would be nice if I could do the film so I said why not. We have been talking about doing a film together for long and we worked on it.”
