Jet Airways of India receives new Airbus at Berlin Air Show

Berlin  - Jet Airways, the rapidly expanding Indian airline, took delivery Tuesday of one of its new A330-200 airliners from Airbus in the presence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Berlin Air Show.

The plane was the eighth in an order for 15 of the two-engined wide-bodied jets, which are used on longe-range flights.

India, where air travel is growing fast as incomes rise and travellers avoid slower land transport, is partner nation this year at the air show, known in German by the initials ILA.

The A330-200 is rated by European planemaker Airbus as the most economic jet in its product range. (dpa)
