Jeev at 8-over while Weir leads
Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh resumed yesterday from his over night score of five-over in eight holes and played positively in his first round but troubled thereafter and ended the day at 8-over in the 109th US Open golf tournament at the Farmingdale, New York.
Jeev made birdies on the ninth and the 10th holes and was back to three-under par. But a triple bogey on the par-four 12th and a dropped shot on the par-three 14th left him behind in the tournament.
Weir, who won the 2003 Masters, was leading by shooting a six-under-par 64 which was just one shot less than the best round ever in a major tournament.
Weir said that that he was in a good place throughout the day as their side definitely had a big advantage to be able to play in nice conditions throughout the day. Weir started at the 10th hole and he made double-bogey six at the sixth by cramming eight birdies in his round including a 20-footer at the ninth.
