Ireland sends 25 million texts per day
Dublin - Ireland, with a population of just 4.3 million, sends 25 million mobile phone text messages every day, according to figures from the telecommunications regulator ComReg carried Wednesday by national broadcaster RTE.
New figures from the regulator said that mobile phones are continuing to overtake landlines as the most popular way to make calls, according to RTE.
The regulator also said that 100,000 new broadband connections were set up in the first quarter of 2008, bringing the proportion of Irish homes with broadband access to the internet to 23 per cent. (dpa)
