Iran arrests suspects linked to deadly mosque blast

IranTehran  - Iran has arrested suspects allegedly linked to last month's deadly bomb blast at a mosque in the southern Iranian province of Fars, state television reported Thursday.

Secret Service chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejeie told state television that the main suspect and five of his accomplices were arrested in northern Tehran.

Mohseni-Ejeie's remarks contradict earlier accounts by the interior ministry which had classified the blast as an accident and not sabotage.

A bomb exploded on April 12 during a speech by a local cleric in a mosque in provincial capital Shiraz, killing at least 12 people and injuring more than 200. (dpa)
