Injuries hampering the selection in T20 World CupIndian selectors are worried about fitness issues of the players for T20 World Cup, injuries occurred to the players are hampering the selection. They all will meet on Friday to select the15-member team for ICC World Cup T20 beginning from April 30 in West Indies.

Selectors are keeping a watch on the factors like talent, experience, capability and they are also concerned about the injuries- minor or major to the players throughout the IPL.

Last year in 2009, World Cup T20 was mostly ruled by the injuries to the players than anything else.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, opener Gautam Gambhir and medium-pacer Ashish Nehra, all are nursing injuries in the IPL. Both Nehra and Gambhir were sent to Sri Lanka for ayurvedic treatment. Along with these three players, some others are also facing some minor injuries and their fate depends upon the report submitted by team physiotherapist.

If a green signal will be given by team physiotherapist then 12 member of the squad will include Dhoni, Gambhir, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ravindra Jadeja and Nehra.

Selectors also want to keep Dinesh Karthik in the squad as a backhand wicketkeeper-batsman.

However, Dhoni and Gambhir are recovering fast but Nehra remains the matter of concern because he is not fit and suffering from an injury to the rib cage. In this case the performance of youngsters R. Vinay Kumar cannot be ignored by the selectors who have shown his talent for Royal Challengers.

The players shortlisted for the last two members of the squad comprises of Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Sreesanth, Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha.
