Infosys likely to choose an insider as next CEO: sources

Infosys likely to choose an insider as next CEO: sourcesInfosys, India's second largest information technology (IT) services exporter, will likely choose an internal candidate as its next CEO, sources with direct knowledge of the developments at the company revealed.

The sources said that Infosys decided to choose its next CEO from inside the company because it wants to maintain the continuity in management and not to upset the balance.

Previously, reports suggested that the company wanted to choose its next chief from outside the company.

Revealing the reported change in the company's mindset, a source said, "Any external candidate as CEO will require a minimum of 10 months to understand the culture of Infosys and the company cannot afford such luxury in these times."

The sources added that any external candidate would find it hard to adjust with executive chairman NR Narayana Murthy's strong personality and the company's work culture.

The company's top management suffered a jolt recently when Infosys' Americas head Askok Vemuri resigned with immediate effect. Vemuri was the third senior manager who quit the company this year. Earlier, the company suffered the exits of its global sales & marketing head Basab Pradhan and financial services head Sudhir Chaturvedi.

The term of Infosys' current CEO S. D. Shibulal is scheduled to end in mid-2015.
