Infosys gains on announcement of Volvo contractStock in Infosys jumped 0.25 per cent to Rs 3,398 at 9:24 IST on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Tuesday, after the IT outsourcer announced that had bagged a multi-year contract from Volvo Cars.

Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology & outsourcing solutions, said it had been selected Volvo Cars for providing applications to support multiple operations, including marketing, sales, manufacturing and customer services.

Nitesh Bansal, Infosys' Vice President for Manufacturing Europe, said they were very pleased to collaborate with Volvo Cars, adding that the agreement also reflected the company's strategic focus on the Nordic market.

Speaking about the deal, Bansal said, "We will be a strategic supplier for Volvo Cars to deliver excellence and innovation to transform their IT landscape to a modern architecture.  This agreement also reflects our strategic focus on the Nordic market and strengthens our presence in Sweden."

However, the company didn't disclose the financial details of the deal.

The IT giant's consolidated net profit climbed 19.4 per cent to Rs 2875 crore on 0.5 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 13,026 crore in third quarter of current fiscal.

Infosys shares hit its record high of Rs 3,847.20 apiece on 3rd of March this year.  It 52-week low of Rs 2,190 apiece was recorded on 29th of April last year.
