Information security, growing headache for companies Due to innovation in information technologies, ways of data transfer are growing fast. As the use of mobile phones, PDA and laptop are growing for keeping the personal and company’s information, with this trend, there is a growing risk of information theft.

As, most of the information is being kept in laptop, PDA, mobiles, there is always the risk of theft or misplacing these items. Companies have growing information theft headaches as these electronic items can be misplaced, lost or get stolen very easily.

Earlier all the confidential information pertaining to the companies, were used to be locked in desktop computer and IT dept. could keep a strict watch.

However, due to the use of laptops, PDA and mobile phones are growing for keeping information; it has become difficult to keep the watch on the every device, which has confidential information.

A survey carried out by Symantec in early 2010 on "Millennial Mobile Workforce and Data Loss" showed that today, one of the biggest security concerns for an organization is the theft of data through the lost, or stolen laptops, PDA and mobile phones. When a laptop or smartphone gets stolen, the information on the device is lost for the owner or company.
