Inflation may go up next fiscal

Pranab-MukherjeeThe Economic Survey, 2010-11 has been presented in Parliament today by the union finance minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. Chief economic advisor in the finance ministry, Mr. Kaushik Basu is the principal author of this Economic Survey.

As per the Economic Survey, 2010-11, the Indian economy is expected to grow remarkable in the coming fiscal year. The GDP is expected to touch the figure of 9 per cent in the next financial year.

However, Mr. Mukherjee has predicted that this figure may go up to 9.25 per cent as well in future. The nation is now dealing with some serious issues like huge spike in inflation and numerous scams last year.

Mr. Basu has said that the nation will continue its “growth sprint” in this year as well. However, he has apprehended that the inflation may rise by 1.5 per cent a year further. As per Basu the comfortable level of inflation at the current level is 3.5 per cent, though he has also added that the growth sprint may push the inflation level to 5 per cent in near future.

Meanwhile, the survey has reported that a second dip recession is a very less probable at this period of time.
