Indiaspora dialogue to be held during Obama's visit to India
Washington: A dialogue by eminent Indian Americans will be launched to identify areas that can fast track Indo-US relationship in the next two years during US President Barack Obama's Republic Day visit to New Delhi.
"Indiaspora Dialogue" will be launched by Indiaspora, an organisation of influential and top Indian Americans, in New Delhi.
The one-of-its kind dialogue will be attended by 15 Indian Americans and 10 eminent Indians and will focus on issues of critical importance to India-US relations that can be put on a fast track over the next 24 months, organisers of the event said.
Some of the issues that will be highlighted in the dialogue include, changing the dynamics of the current business climate, meeting India's energy needs by leveraging renewables, entrepreneurship and innovation models for scaling Indian SMBs, harnessing education to harvest the demographic dividend, building a digital India for the 21st century and dramatically improving healthcare and hygiene in India.
The next round of Indiaspora Dialogue would be held in May in Washington.
The India-US relationship has traditionally been driven by the people to people relationship in particular the Indian Diaspora.
The launch of the dialogue is an effort in this regard. (PTI)
