Indians and Europeans Capable of Digesting Milk: Study
Indians and Europeans experience a familiar genetic change that helps in the digestion of milk, says a new study.
The study was conducted by the researchers of Cambridge University, who had worked with the teams of CCMB Hyderabad, University of Tartu, Harvard, and that of Chennai. These researchers observed the genetic changes among the population of the different countries that helps in digestion of lactose, sugar present in milk.
The study also considered the cultural and biological adaptations of the people that make them similar to each other. Indians have been considered as lovers of milk and the country backs the top position as the largest consumer and producer of milk and related products.
The researchers have notified that the perseverance of lactase is quite common among the population of the Middle East Asia, parts of Africa, India and Europe where the domestication of cattle is quite popular and people prefer milk drinks.
However, in most of the countries people find it difficult to digest milk and suffer problems like abdominal pain, inflammation, vomiting and diarrhea as they are incapable of tolerating the lactose.
With the growing age, it becomes difficult for people to digest milk.
