India urges US to help build a manufacturing base
India has urged the United States to invest in India and help the country develop into a big manufacturing hub.
This was told by the commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma. He has asked the US firms to come and be a part of India's growth story.
While talking to a business group, the minister said that the government would like that US and Indian companies come together and use the potential of India. By working together, they can help develop India as the workshop of the world.
Sharma made this statement just a day after U. S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk signed a bilateral trade agreement covering the two countries. This would increase the investment flow and the business relationship between the two nations.
Meanwhile, there is news that India will come up with a new Foreign Investment Policy by March 31. A new Manufacturing Policy is also in the pipeline.
Such a relationship is good for both the countries. While on one hand it will help India get the much needed investment boost to develop its manufacturing sector; on the other it will help US too by saving its manufacturing base, which gets constant threats from China.
