India is on the threshold of communication revolution. Due to the proliferation of mobiles and wireless expansion, this revolution has become possible. In August 2010, 18.18 million new subscribers were added by the telecom subscriber providers.

By adding these subscribers in overall tally, the no. of mobile users in the country has reached to 670.60 million as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had issued the statement yesterday.

The wireless subscriber base is also increasing rapidly. In July 2010, the subscriber base was 652.42 million.

By August 2010 end, it increased to 670.60 million. The research firm had made the forecast in 2008 that by 2012, Indian wireless subscriber base would increase to 737 million connections. The forecast is set to be true.

In July, the total number of telephone subscribers, which includes the landlines and the mobiles, was 688.38 million which by August end increased to 706.37 million.

With these figures, the teledensity of India has reached to 59.63 percent. Teledensity of a country is measured by the no. of telephones per 100 people.
