India, Korea declared joint winners
India has to share its Sultan Azlan Shah trophy with Korea. India and Korea were declared joint champions of the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament. India was the defending champions of the event. The title was shared as the final match was abandoned after six minutes of play due to heavy rain. This is the first time ever in the history of the event that two teams were declared as joint winners. However, India had a very good tournament this year. It has leaded the pool with a tally of 13 points.
The final match between India and Korea has been completely washed off. Heavy rain had forced the Tournament Committee to declare both the teams as joint winner of the tournament. Earlier two other matches were also affected by rain in this event.
The drizzle started at the very beginning of the match. When the Indian and Korean teams have lined up for the national anthem there was a slow shower. But after that it had intensified into a heavy downpour. Due to very poor visibility for the umpires and players, the management has decided to abandon the match.
