India announces relaxation in rules for e-Visa for Chinese nationals

India has announced relaxation in e-Visa rules for Chinese nationals. After a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chinese president Xi Jinping in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, Indian government announced relaxation in e-Visa norms for Chinese nationals.

Chinese nationals will be able to apply for e-tourist visa of 5 year validity with multiple entries. The fee for five year tourist visa with multiple entries will be USD 80. For a single-entry 30 day visa, Chinese tourists will have to pay USD 25 as fee. Indian government also announced reduction in single entry visa fee to USD 10 for travel between April and June.

India is an interesting tourist destination for Chinese people. However, visa regulations could have been a deterrent in the past. Indian government is promoting tourism and with Chinese nationals having higher income, the number of tourists from China has been rising over the last few years.
