Imran not on hunger strike, he had bread, eggs and fruit: Jail official

Cricketer-Turned-Politician Imran KhanIslamabad, Nov 21: Deputy Superintendent of Dera Ghazi Khan Jail Bakhsh has denied that jailed cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan had stopped eating, and said that Imran had bread, eggs and fruit for breakfast.

Meanwhile, Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has said that their leader continued his hunger strike for the second day.

Jail officials said that Imran’s supporters were spreading word of the strike to attract media attention.

Imran’s sister Allema Khan said, "Imran has stopped eating since yesterday. We can’t leave him alone. It is not a token hunger strike, it is a serious one."

Allema said that she was going to Dera Ghazi Khan Jail on Wednesday to try to meet her brother.

"We have tried to contact the government, but nobody is officially telling us anything. We will stand outside the jail and will try to meet him," she added.

"Imran Khan’s morale is high, and he says his protest will continue until the government reinstates the deposed Chief Justice," the Daily Times quoted PTI spokesman Umar Cheema, as saying. (ANI)
