Imran Khan urged by party to take part in bye-elections

Imran Khan urged by party to take part in bye-electionsLahore, Mar 17: The Punjab and Lahore leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has requested party chief Imran Khan to field the party candidates for the bye-elections.

"The party should field its candidates for the National, Provincial and Senate seats after negotiating with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders," the Daily Times quoted PTI leaders, as saying.

The PTI leaders also have a view that the party might lose its credibility among the masses if it continued to align with the Jamaat-e-Islami or the lawyers. There are chances of workers quitting the party, they added.

According to reports, PTI Lahore President Shabir Sial had offered his resignation to the party chief a few days ago for being a failure in keeping the party intact in Lahore.

But Khan assured Sial that he would have a talk with the PPP and PML-N leaders to accommodate the party candidates on four national and five provincial Assembly seats in Punjab. Sial withdrew his resignation thereafter.

There are reports of an offer of a Senate seat for Khan, which he is reluctant to accept. (ANI)
