Imran, Asma Jehamgir to protest against Musharraf in London this weekend

London, Jan 24: To register their protest against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s "undemocratic" actions against the country’s media, judiciary and the civil society, cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and human rights activist Asma Jehangir will lead a demonstration against him at 10 Downing Street on Sunday, on the sidelines of his London visit.

Besides, the UK branches of the Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N and slain ex-premier Benazir Bhutto’s PPP will also join them in the demonstration.

During his four-day visit in London as the head of the state, Musharraf is likely to stay at the Dorchester Hotel. But his engagements during the weekend have not been divulged, except that he would play bridge at his old friend Brig (Retd.) Niaz's home, which he had himself disclosed to the media last week.

The details of Musharraf's "non official" engagements over the weekend during his four-day trip to London are being kept confidential, greatly disappointing the eager national media as well as the local Pakistani community, reported The News.

This is Musharraf’s fifth official trip to the UK since he toppled Nawaz Sharif’s government in a military coup in October 1999.

On the last day of his visit, i. e. Monday, Musharraf would be holding a meeting with Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and also expected to visit the Defence College London where he used to study once. On Monday night, Musharraf is expected to fly out of the UK at the end of his long trip to the European countries. (ANI)
